If you can believe it, I used to be a Certified Public Accountant; that is until I found the amazing benefits of blogging with the main one being that I can make money from home.
But besides making money from home, there are so many reasons to start your own blogging business.
Since starting my travel blog, I’ve been to 25+ countries and have been able to spend a great deal of time on my health. I have an autoimmune disease and fibromyalgia.
You can create your own inspiring story by starting a blog. If you need that extra push to start one, here are some benefits of blogging you might like.

Growing Your Skillset
Blogging is much more than sharing your knowledge with the world. You may not realize it but blogging can be a great source of learning and growing your skill set.
As your blog grows, you’ll get introduced to resources to not only improve your current writing capabilities but will also aid in learning new skills that will contribute towards making you a better blogger.
For instance, as you try to make your blog popular, you’ll learn what SEO is, how marketing works, network with people in your industry and much more.
The best part? You don’t have to invest a lot of time or money to master these skills.

Passion Turned Profession
I think we all can agree when I say, there are only a few instances where your passion is your profession as well. But for most, profession is just a means to pay their bills.
Does that mean you should give up on your passion? Not when blogging exists.
Blogging is one of the most expressive mediums out there.
If you are passionate about literally anything, blogging can be a great way to share your thoughts, knowledge and expertise with the world. You could do what you really like without leaving your current profession, which is definitely one of the biggest benefits of blogging– making money doing what you love.
Moreover, as you move forward, you can even turn it into a profitable income source. It’s entirely possible to earn the same as your current job or even more once you figure out how it all works.
Flexibility of Time and Place
You know what they say, “There is no place like home!”
One of the major reasons why blogging has become so popular in recent times is because of the flexibility it offers.
Unlike a regular job, it has no set boundaries in regards to time. You could be a full-time blogger or do it just an hour a day (with your job).
And since you can access it from anywhere, you could update your blog, sitting in your comfy couch or while being on a vacation. All you would need is a laptop.
On a personal level, I have both an autoimmune disease and fibromyalgia. I need lots of sleep and go to some type of therapy or doctor’s appointment 2x a week on average. Blogging lets me make my own hours and focus on my health first, which has been one of the biggest benefits of blogging for me personally.
Building Your Rapport
In this day and age, one of the most crucial things you can do to establish a strong online presence is to build a personal brand.
A personal brand helps to establish a feeling of trust with your audience. If your readers get consistent value out of your content, it’ll instinctively tell them that you know what you are doing.
Besides getting a loyal reader-base, a good rapport in your area of expertise will help you make more professional connections.
The field of blogging is packed with income opportunities.
As you build a loyal reader base, you could venture into different aspects within blogging and start making money, especially passive income.
These opportunities include but aren’t limited to,
- Ad Revenue: This is the simplest way to earn through blogging. Once you get a good number of consistent visitors, you could ask Google to display ads on your website in exchange for money.
- Affiliate Marketing: This is one of my favorite ways to make money in which you promote other brand’s products on your website and earn a commission.
- Selling Products and Services: As I said in the beginning, there is an audience for everything online. It doesn’t matter what you sell. If it’s useful, people will pay for it.
However, these are only a fraction of ways you could earn good money via blogging. The possibilities are endless.
As a matter of fact, you could lay a foundation for your upcoming business using your blog.
Improve Business’ SEO
One of the biggest benefits of blogging for business/e-commerce sites is that it can improve your business’ SEO.
You could be selling the best products/services within your niche, but if your site doesn’t rank high on Google, chances are people will never come across it and all your efforts will be in vain.
Blogging can prove to be a great tool to combat this. Running a blog related to business allows you to tell people about your brand, products/services and answer user queries.
When you post keyword-rich, useful content, Google and other other top websites (within your niche) see you as a reliable source of information, thus pushing you up the ranks. Meanwhile, attracting more customers will be a guaranteed effect.
Establishing Relations With Other Professionals
Blogging is a very efficient way to be in touch with what’s happening within your niche. As you grow your blog, you’ll get frequent opportunities (in the form of blogger groups, guest posts, etc.) to connect with the best in the game.
Forming strong connections with people that speak your language is a guaranteed way to gain practical exposure. These experiences will further aid you in getting more customers/clients for your brand.
In essence, having a community ensures you get help when you ask for it.
On a personal level, one of the unexpected benefits of blogging is that it introduced me to people who I love and talk with weekly, if not daily. I’ve found people who equally value their lifestyle, love traveling and putting time into their business like me.
Blogging As Your Portfolio
If you are a freelancer, having a personal blog can be a great way to showcase your professional capabilities to your clients.
You can create detailed blog posts/case-studies about your past projects and post on your personal blog for your clients to see.
Most of the time, a portfolio site acts as a first impression of you, that’s why the best way to stand out from the rest, it is necessary to have an impressive portfolio site.
Furthermore, the skills you learn through blogging can be a great addition to your resume/CV.
Blogging Gives Mental Clarity
Besides providing you with great technical and monetary benefits, blogging can be of great help in your personal life too!
The biggest misconception people have when it comes to blogging is that you have to be an expert in the niche you are writing about.
There’s enough information on the internet already, what people need is a place where it’s all simplified and organized.
But as you blog about something, do research for it, etc. you will become an expert in your niche as you learn yourself.
Your blog can not only be something that provides your readers with clarity, it can also be a great way to channel and organize your own ideas, learn and grow.
