Is Canva Pro Worth It? (A Canvo Pro Review After Trying Canva Free vs Pro)

Is Canva Pro worth it or is the free option good enough? Find out in my Canvo Pro review!

When I first started blogging, I was cheap. I never thought about how much Canva is or even wondered if Canva Pro is worth it because however much Canva Pro cost was already way too much.

That is, until I finally gave in and tried Canva Pro. Now I can’t live without it.

If you make content on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube like me or Pin to Pinterest, keep reading this Canva Pro review to see why you’ll want Canva Pro.

TL;DR: Canva Pro is worth it. Try a free trial here.

Canva is a graphic design platform with drag-and-drop capabilities to create everything and anything from presentations to social media graphics.

As a blogger, I personally use Canva for:

  • Instagram in-feed posts and stories
  • TikTok text overlays
  • Pinterest photo and video Pins (this is what I use it most for)
  • YouTube text overlays and ending graphics
  • Media Kit

As a business owner, you can use Canva to design your:

  • Logo
  • Business cards
  • Ads
  • Flyers
  • Presentations
  • and so much more

It is kind of like Adobe Photoshop but way easier to use.

I actually have Adobe Photoshop but choose to use Canva because of my basic needs, I can make graphics quickly in Canva.

Canva has three pricing plans: free, Pro and Enterprise Solutions.

As a new content creator or small business, you can definitely get by with the free plan as I did that myself for a couple of years.

But if you are making tons of content weekly for Pinterest, Instagram (stories), Tiktok (for text overlay) and YouTube (for text overlay and End Screens), then you’ll want the Pro plan, which is $12.95/month or only $9.95/month when paid annually.

See full details on all pricing plans here.

Is Canva Pro worth it? Here’s 8 reasons why I say yes in my Canva Pro review.

In short, yes. If you’re a content creator like me who has her hands in Pinterest, TikTok, Instagram and sometimes YouTube, then Canva Pro is a must.

I even prefer using Canva Pro over Adobe Photoshop!

These are all the reasons in my Canva Pro review why I think it’s better than the free Canva and very much worth the monthly (or yearly) price.

100gb of Cloud Storage

The free version of Canva only comes with 5gb of Cloud storage whereas Canva Pro has 100gb.

With social media sites now pushing video content more than ever and with such large photo sizes, when you upload to the free version’s cloud, you’re probably going to use the 5gb of space pretty quickly like I did.

With Canva Pro, you won’t run out of space as it has 100gb of Cloud storage for photos and videos you upload.

Premium stock images, graphics, templates and fonts included

The free version of Canva has a ton of stock images, graphics and fonts to use, but with Canva Pro, there’s no limit.

Canva Pro has over 75+ million stock images included, which makes this pricing worth it alone for Pinterest users.

Since Pinterest’s algorithm now favors fresh Pins (Pins that have never been seen before), using these premium stock images will put you ahead of the game. You no longer have to buy stock images or search Unsplash for Creative Common images that have been used again and again.

Plus, with the free version of Canva, anytime I wanted to use a Pro sticker, template, graphic and/or font, I’d have to pay $1 every time. That started quickly adding up. Now with Canva Pro, I have access to it all with no limit!

One-click design Magic Resize

How Much is Canva and is Canva Pro Worth It?

The free version of Canva does not include the one-click design Magic Resize button but Canva Pro does. This is an absolute must-have if you’re promoting your blog posts on different platform.

For example, if you make a 1080px by 1080px graphic for Instagram and want to make the same graphic for Pinterest, which is 1000px by 15000px, instead of creating a new design and remaking it, all you have to do is resize it with one-click!

Download with a transparent background

Comparing Canva Free vs Pro, being able to download graphics with a transparent background on Canva Pro is a big bonus.

Yes, you could do this with Adobe Photoshop, but I find Canva Pro faster to use when I need a ton of text overlays for TikTok and/or YouTube videos.

Ability to publish directly to social media platforms

With Canva Pro, you can publish directly to several social media platforms or to any Cloud storage. This makes it super easy to create a graphic and share it all in one place.

The social media platforms that you can share your Canva design directly to are:

  • Facebook and Facebook Group,
  • Twitter,
  • Pinterest,
  • Tumblr
  • and LinkedIn.

The Cloud services that you can upload your Canva design directly to are:

  • Google Drive,
  • Dropbox and
  • Microsoft OneDrive.

One-click photo Background Remover

A newer feature on Canva Pro, which is great for bloggers and business owners alike, is the ability to remove the background. You no longer need to do something complex on Adobe Photoshop as Canva does a great job at this!

Unlimited folders

With the free version of Canva, you get three folders to sort out your graphics in but with Canva Pro, you get an unlimited number!

This has been really helpful for sorting out graphics for my various blogs as well as client work I now do since I can make money with Canva Pro, which I talk about in the next section.

How to Make Money with Canva Pro

What’s great about Canva Pro is that there’s a feature to share your design as an editable template for others.

By doing this, you can sell digital products or services.

For example, I designed this media kit for bloggers in Canva Pro and sell the template on Etsy for bloggers to buy.

I also create custom Pinterest graphics for clients as part of my Pinterest package and give them the templates.

These are just a couple of ways you can make money by selling templates you designed on Canva Pro.
